it is for raising queens... The larva to be made into queens gets inserted into this hive and the ladies inside are in charge of raising the queens.....

Without cells to build or brood to draw cells on. It will probally develop laying workers in some where between 16 and 24 days. Maybe quicker
Winter Ventilation: Wet bees die in hours maybe minutes, no matter how much honey is in the hive.

Add a frame of eggs and let it build cells. Take that frame out when you graft.

WELL I AM GETTING ANOTHER QUEEN.....sorry caps.... so I want the nut ready when she gets here. so if it will be ok for 3 -5 days with now queen then I am in good shape

.
When bees rear (not build) emergency cells, it is good to wait that they cap the cells. Then they accept very easy a new queen. It takes 5 days to rear and cap them.
When their own queen cells are open, often they accept no new queens.

So you got a nuc/hive with out a Queen ??? if so Introduce a mated within 24 hours After 24 hours the bees may start Queen cells. A mated Queen will not kill developing Queens and may be killed by an emerging Queen. Hope this help you out

sorry miss spoke... I ordered a new queen, it will be coming this week. I want the nuc ready for when she arrives so I was stealing some bees that I have from an established hive. I wanted to make sure that it would be ok for those bees to be in the new nuc with out a queen for a few days
