Though there are many mead recipes, I am interested in making beer with my honey.  Any suggestions/ leads/ websites/ books to suggest?

I am also interested in the same for mead, but more interested in trying some beer.  Or another alcohol, if anyone has some ideas.

Look from google "mead"

Of course I can Google "mead" and get over 34 million results.  I thought that, perhaps, on this forum, I could put a finer point on it that that.

I add honey to my beer recipies all the time.
You can substitue half of the Malt extract with Honey. Most of the time I just add 3-5lbs of honey to any recipe to give it that extra kick.

I also enjoy taking a simple Mead recipe and adding 1-2lbs of barley/wheat spray dried powder to it.

To begin with mead is a wine not a beer.  There is also a braggot which is a little tricky to make, goes bad within six months but is really good during it potable stage - almost a cross between beer and wine.  And then there is beer.

I did a red last summer with honey which was awesome, and nothing eases mowing the lawn like a good honey brown.  Midwest brewing supplies are some of the best suppliers ;

They also have an awesome liquid yeast specifically cultured for mead not champagne. You'll never use that red star cr@p again.

Be careful when using honey as the primer though - there is a specific equation to use to prevent blowing up bottles.

BTW - check out Midwest's honey nut brown in the ale section - it's awesome.  Of the different beers I prefer the ales. :D

OK, if I really help you. Honey beer is so bad tasting that no normal person use it. If it is good it would be sold in mall.

Honey is not popular stuff in home brewing. Give up BeeMan!

Hmmmm,
That really doesn't speak well for Finland.  Yes, in the USA you can buy honey beer in the mall.  Micro breweries also make and sell it.  It does cost a bit more due to the cost of honey but then again everyone knows
Life's too short to drink cheap beer :D

Word of caution - bees do like honey beer as well as mead; drunk bees do sting!  Ensure your bees drink responcibly - don't drink and fly!

Allow me to translate a book from latvia (surely they know how to make honey beer.  They're renouned for their other beers.)

"Medus un citi biskopibas produkti"
"Honey and other beehive products."

p. 109

"Medus Alus Udeni (12 liters) ar medu (1 kg) uzvara, nosmelot putas.  Pielej iesala ekstrakta (1 kg) un apinu (20g) novarijumu.  (Apinus novara atseviski.)  Atdzese lidz rugsanas temperaturai (18ºC), tad pieliek raugu (50g) un raudze.  Pec tam var sapildit pudeles."

"Honey Beer Water (12 liters) with honey (1 kg) to boil, away to lie foam( basically means "set away from heat untill foaming"). Add corn extracts (1 kg) and hops (20g) to boil.  (Hops boil seperate.( this is were the unfluentness shows...))  Cool down with temperature (18ºC), then add yeast (50g) and let sit.  After (parapharasing) fermentation comes to bubble,  bottle."

I'm not sure how much use this will be but, hey, it was good practice for me.

I asked from google hunajaolut (=honey beer) and I found honey spiced oats beer.  Another company also add honey into beer.

Yes, we are not beer people. :P

I realize that mead and beer are not the same thing.  I thought I had made that clear in my OP.

I am especially interested in recipes for honey beer.  Thanks for what I have read thus far.  I am looking forward to reading more of your suggestions.
