Thanks CD, it was a great hunt indeed! I now have Go Pro's latest model, the Hero 3. This little camera is awesome! I liked the 2 but the three is even better! I am currently uploading a video I shot of Emil and his Dad ice sculpting. I think y'all will like the much improved picture quality this camera is capable of.

CD, gonna bring it with me on our crabbing trip! ;)

Yeah Tefer, they are brand new! You can only pre-order them from the Go Pro site as they are scheduled to send them out around November 14th. BUT!!!... They are available in stores such as Best Buy now!

I am going to post the ice sculpture video of Emil and his Dad filmed with the Hero3 in another thread now.

Its in the coffee section now!

The version I chose was the black edition. It now has an aspherical lens, its a flatter lens, so a good bit of that fish eye effect is gone, thank goodness!

They dramatically increased the audio right out of the box and low light filming has been improved as well. The camera is also smaller as in narrower believe it or not, at 2.7 ounces!

The specs on the black edition are quite unreal. This camera is capable of filming in extremely high resolution. My current computer and program cannot even handle its three highest settings but I am very content to film in 1080. It has the capacity to film in 4kp15 / 2.7kp30 / WVGA-240fps. I don't know really know how to explain these features but have been assured they are for very advanced users.

I did some filming in a few of the upper modes and noticed my computer could not process the information correctly. In 1440 mode I had some pausing while playing back footage. No way with my current set up I could work with 1440 or higher. Perhaps down the road.
