you have to love this time of year.

HomeSteadDreamer

I'd love it if I had some empty equipment read.  :(

I have two 'nucs'  that need larger homes.  If I have a swarm I'll be scrambling to get something.  I have all the wood..... but the time not so much.

Alright guys(and ladies), I stickied this topic as it coincides with the Follow the Bloom 2014 thread. Towards fall I will unsticky this and the follow the bloom 2014 threads and we can do this again next spring. :)

Hopefully I'll get some swarms/calls this year. I just sent my info to the Consolidated Dispatch Agency Supervisor in case they get some 911 calls about a swarm.

ray, are they your bees or are these calls?  just curious.
i saw a few crimson clover blooms in town yesterday.  it's about to ramp up and i'm not ready.

I'm pretty sure that they're mine. I'm going out to catch another in just a few minutes. They have to settle. That's three.

I have the equipment, just need some swarms.

ray, seems like hiving your own swarms worked out pretty good for you last year.

As far a growth, yes it did. Honey production was hurt pretty bad though.

The wife just called, said a swarm is hanging on the neighbor's mailbox. You might know,  I'm 5 hours away.

That's what I said. As luck would have it, I caught one anyway. At work, on the clock. Ain't that sweet!

Two days of sunny weather and the fruitless plums are all going strong, apples, cherries, sugar maples, daffodils, crocus, tulips, multiple ground covers with little blue flowers....it is spring here....finally.

Caught about a 4lb swarm on Mon. 3/10.  In a condomium on a ligustrom.

10framer

seems like the coastal bees have decided it's spring.

i just had a swarm fly into a trap 2 days ago lucky me :-D

10framer

i suspect i'll find drones today and if so i'm going to pull nucs from any hives with queen cells.  i bought a radial arm saw yesterday.  looks like it's about to see some action.

HomeSteadDreamer

got my first swarm call today.  My hives have drones so it's the season here.
