On a different message board an individual has been concerned about a hive of hot bees his neighbor has and was trying to help the owner decided whether to have the hive tested for africanized genetics.  This, I believe is in Marshal County.  Apparently Friday about five miles from the location of the hot hive a horse was killed by a feral colony of bees.  In talking with the state apiartist office it was disclosed that AHB genetics were confirmed in a colony found at the Huntsville International Airport and two in two colonies along the southern Alabama stateline.

Anybody hear about the bee attack on the horse or any of these other instances of AHB in Alabama?

Best wishes,
Ed

American blood spilled to protect the freedom and peace of people all over the world.  320,000 USA casualties in WWI, 1,076,000 USA casualties in WWII, 128,000 USA casualties in the Korean War, 211,000 casualties in the Vietnam "conflict", 57,000 USA casualties in "War on Terror".  Benghazi, Libya, 13 USA casualties. These figures don't include 70,000 MIA.  But, the leaders of one political party of the United States of America continue to make the statement..."What difference does it make?".

I haven't heard anything Ed. Is there a link? I "binged" it but didn't get the story. Keep us posted.

I believe there is a "Huntsville" Texas, maybe it was there.

Nope, definitely in north Alabama.  Here's a link to the thread over on beesource... http://www.beesource.com/forums/showthread.php?299564-Is-it-worth-testing-to-determine-if-they-are-Africanized-Honey-Bees

The thread started out with a discussion of whether or not to get a hot hive tested for AHB traits.  As it turned out the horse got killed and once that was found out they apparently wasted no time in getting the state to come check the hot hive out.

And there's no international airport in Huntsville, Texas.  It's not that far from Houston and the prison is the main industry.  Not many of those old boys are likely to travel internationally, I reckon.  Nice town.  One good barbecue joint.  Humongous statue of Sam Houston.
