I'm happy to be living in the "sticks" building my dreams toward retirement and the life long wish to have bees. Really enjoy all aspects of bee-keeping and am in a constant state of awe. : ) I look forward to getting to know some of you as I learn more about my bees. Thanks for this site and this opportunity to learn. Paul

Welcome to the forum Paul.
When I bought my house here in Jacksonville in 1984, visitors would often say "your out in the sticks". My reply was yea, ain't it great. Closest store was 20 miles away. Now I can walk to 3 small stores and 1 1/2 miles away we have all kinds os stores. Now houses are all around us.
You are probably a little more into the sticks but be careful they will sneak in on you.   :-D
If you want a really good bee book, check out "The Practical Beekeeper, by Michael Bush.
If you want to go all natural, no chemicals, that's the book to read.

Thanks beesnme and Kevin. Really glad I found the form. I recommend to all new-bees I'm talking to. : )  So far this spring THREE swarms! for 3 new hives. One trap-out installed, thanks to Iddee's instructions. Because the tail end of hurricane  Albert is going to play out over here I used my "New" home-made bee vac to collect the bees off the trap out. (plans compliments of... you guessed it, BEEMASTERS! )The trap out bees are not taking to the hive box and after the storm I'll attempt my first cut out. I wouldn't even think about it without all your help. I just search and there it is. Didn't know how to combine until this morning when I HAD to. lol and bingo, you all had the answers for me. Smoked receiving hive, opened, newspaper, plop on vac'ed bees with rear top entrance as per Iddee's instructions and presto! Slow hive gets a boost and those bees aren't lost to the storm. I find it's so good for my confidence to research, plan and complete these jobs. Very enthused about bee keeping. Thank you all for each and every contribution to the forms. ALL entries are important I feel. you never know what comment will help another new-bee like me. Thanks again. Paul Pelly
