True story,
When I was a kid there was a place called the Unadilla Pheasant Farm. The house across the street from me was owned by a wall street investment manager as a vacation home. He liked to hunt and he had a Gorden Setter named Tandy (after the stock that dogged out). I will always remember because she was the only reason I was able to have grouse dinner after the first grouse I ever shot. Anyway Eric wanted to release pheasants on my parents property. My father was going to the Unadilla Bolt & Nut Shop down the street from the pheasant farm so Eric asked to go with him to see about getting pheasants. When they left Tandy chased after them because she didn't want to be left behind. Reluctantly they put her in the back of the truck and headed on their way. When they got to the pheasant farm there were 4 doberman pincers lying around in the yard. Then went to the door and nobody answered. When they turned around to leave the 4 dogs were no longer lying around the yard they were surrounding them smiling showing their beautiful pearly white teeth. About that time Tandy started barking that distracted the dogs long enough for Dad and Eric return to the safety of the truck. A few months after the ordeal there was a big thing in the paper about a major drug bust at the Unadilla pheasant farm. Probably some DEA agent wet his pants laughing as he was hiding in the weeds on a stake out.

There you go, another problem solved with chipping!  X:X

Good story.  I've often wondered what goes on at those pheasant farms. :)  There are a couple around me and I just don't see the economics in the business model.  I used to hunt (YEP) a pheasant or two as a kid, but they virtually disappeared around here for a number of years.  I've only recently been seeing wild pheasants again.  One guy told me the coyotes are getting the fowl, but I don't know.  :idunno:

Solved by chipping? Just by tracking them with a chip would have made them look guilty of something to do with the drug trade. They just wanted to get pheasants. So either a DEA agent on a stake out had a lot of fun watching them or nobody watched them. Either way they did nothing wrong. But a chip would not have had the same effect. If nobody was watching to see that they were obviously there for pheasants rather than drugs how would anybody know they were not there for drugs?
