Hello,
I want to get bees this year.  I want to start small cell beekeeping.  I am going to get eight frame medium hives because of the weight issue.
I know it would be really hard to start the small cell from a nuc. So I am looking for package bees that will ship or swarm collecting.  Everybody says to go with two hives, but I think I want to start with one and add another next spring.  Money is tight and Honey Super cell comb is a big bite. Once they drawn there own comb I hope I can reuse the Honey Super Cell comb next year or spilt the bees that are already small bees. Yes I know I have to get through next winter, a girl has to dream.
I have had bees before so I am not a complete newbee. But that was before the internet and there is so much more information to learn now.
This is a great site and I have already learned a lot.

Welcome to the forum.

Bees come in different sizes thus different size cells. I have mediums also because of the weight. My hives are made up of 3 boxes for brood and up to 3 boxes (supers) for honey, adding one at a time of course, (sometimes I also have a Ross Round box if the flow good that year.)  -Mike
