I have another dilemma I am unsure how to deal with/solve. This was actually the other part of my post from yesterday, but since I had answers on one of my questions I decided to start a new thread for this one.

Taking a look at the picture you can see the bees have started to build the comb up vertically through the opening in the top cover. What is my best course of action here?

The way I see it there are really 3 options.

1. Just let them go and build the way they want.
2. Put my next box on and let them build into the frames vertically, but this could cause a problem when I go to try and separate the two boxes.
3. Remove the comb and either use it for another purpose before any eggs are laid in it such as melting the wax and putting it on the plastic frames they don't seem to be crazy about or hang it on a open frame.

Keep in mind its about 3 inches wide at and tall at the peak measurements.

Thanks so much for any and all advice.

Is your top box 75-80% drawn out? If so I would put on another brood box unless you already have 3 meds or two deeps, in that case I would add a super. But in all circumstances, I would remove the unwanted comb and rub the area with grass.  -Mike

Listen to others but make your own decisions. That way you own the results.

I would agree with Mike, unless you want some unmanageable frames. The grass is a nice touch, I will try that. thanks Mike. G

If you do not deal with it while it is small it only gets worst and it will be harder to deal with.
If you fave a good flow on they can build fast so don't delay.
Rubber band the comb into foundation less frames. Put the 4-6 rubber bands on the frames and then slide them over the comb.
Lots of videos of how to do it in Honey Bee Removal section here on Beemaster.
