So I put my super on a couple weeks ago and now they are working on drawing the comb out and i read they will make the comb wider with nine frames in it and i took a frame out and now they building sideways trying to connect the frames with comb are they supposed to do that?

If a box of foundation you start with 10 frames or the space is too much. With drawn comb you can move back to 9 frames.

ok i went out there and scraped the comb that the were using to connect the frames and added a tenth frame but the first thing i noticed was there were 5 -  10 drones around the outside of the hive in the grass is this normal

Depending on where you are and the amount of available nectar(Flow) it would not be unusual to begin seeing Drone evictions. They kick them out when times get tight. You should add your location to your profile. It will make it easier for members who are close to you to answer questions. Locality is huge with bees. Welcome to Beemaster. Good Luck. G

Yes add your location please .... and a few drones on the ground is nothing to cause concern nor is a few workers. They fly- they die..

Fill the box full of frames.  Push the frames tightly together in the center.  They are now on 1 3/8" centers.  The bees prefer 1 1/4" centers.  You can't get them tight enough.  Now take the frames out, and shave 1/16" off of each side of each and bar.  Put 11 frames in the box, and push them tightly together in the center.  This is the correct spacing for brood comb.  When you took a frame out and spaced them evenly they were on 1 1/2" centers which means each frame has an excess space of 1/4".  This is why they ignore your spacing.  Minimum you should crowd the ten frames to the center.
