Greetings From Greece

Hi.
My name is Nikos and i'm from Greece.
I started last year with 5 hives and now i have 10 .
My goal is to make 30 productive colonies at the end of this year.

Please be gentle with my bad english .

welcome to the forum! 30 by the end of the year that is a great goal. looking forward to hearing of your progress. be sure to post some photos of your hive. would be great to see your greek setup :)

Hey nice girls!!!

I love their homes, black with orange looks great! I think they are the best paintjob i've seen on a set of hives. Blue ones are nice as well.

Looks like you have a nice spot for the hives as well. Thanks for sharing them with us

Actually they are dark green with orange stripes .

The first two from the left are plastic hives . i bought them in order to test how my 'girls' will overwinter.
So far the results are more than promising.

I'll post some close up pictures of my hives later.

How cold does it get where they are? Hopefuly they do well!
(i could have sworn they were black!) but they still look great. I like how the orange strips are different on each one!

Hives are facing south ( the mountain is at the back). This way are protected from the cold north winds during the winter.
Here you can see the weather conditions in my area the last month.
I dont know if the same thing happens there but here in Greece weather is getting crazier every year.

The temperature margins are big.
18 to 20 degrees during day and - 7 at night.
Bees dont know what to do and this is very dangerus for their survival .

Orange stripes on hives , or different colors and shapes , help the bees find their hive when several are placed in a small area.
