My right shoulder has been bothering me for quite  a while. It just aches for hours on end. I received 3 stings yesterday while getting a swarm, first stings since last summer.  Last night I slept pain free. It still feels pretty good. I guess I really needed a little help from my girls.
The reason I was stung was I had to use a whisk broom to get them off of a 3" limb, into a dust pan and drop them into a swarm box. They were very calm. I'm sure the problem was when they were rolled up against the limb with the broom.

I've not noticed any benefits from getting stung to this point but I know folks who swear by it.  I'm just happy to not swell up and itch anymore.  The pain is still has remarkable as my first sting though.

Congrats on your first swarm catch!  It'll be another 4-6 weeks before they start showing up here.

Thanks D.
My son swears by it and I have a friend that has been keeping her life livable (fibermyalga) for over 20 years after the doctors could not get her healthy enough to get out of bed.

I appoligize if I am off subject but thanks for metioning the when on swarming in Mo.  I have already put out about 15 traps cause it takes some time to put them out and now I am getting done.

Second off subject.  If my memory is not flawed and I am thinking of some one else, Have you given up on your honor stand or is it still working for you?
Thanks

In this neck of the woods the swarms start showing up around May with some as early as mid April.  Though I just started up some hives on some land I own outside Osceola, MO. so they'll probably start a week earlier there.

Yep, that's me.  I'm still a HUGE fan of the honor stand.  Mine is currently closed and has been moved off site.  They're converting the road it was on from a wide single lane to a marked 2 lane with 6' shoulders.  It was closed once construction started but people kept walking through the construction zone to double check.  It had a huge "SOLD OUT" sign on it but people were still showing up (they'd call me once there) and I was concerned someone was going to get hurt.

Once it's open on the new road I'm betting I'll get more traffic as the road was an agglomeration of pothole repairs prior.  The road won't open back up until Dec '16 so I'm in the process of finding a temporary home for it.  They were supposed to open the road back up in June '16 which would have worked perfectly for me but,... delays in construction.

It is still my goal to get to having a stand.  I am probly two years away even if things go good as I still haven't got my bees yet.  I did have an 8x10 shed that I built setting right by the road.  I tried to sell it for about thirty days but it looked so good there that I quit trying.  Now my mom wants it so I have to build a differrent one to have a stand but like I said, I am (if things go really good) two years out.

GWW,
No problem. I also plan on having a honor stand at my farm once I retire and move out there. I'm a little concerned about doing it because my drive way is a major bus stop during the school year. I'm wondering if the kids will mess with it. A friend has one about 8 miles south of me, closer to town.

Btw, how's your shoulder Jim? Still pain free? I do believe apitherapy works. I think it has to be nerves that cause the pain, not just muscle pain though, from my extremely limited knowledge of it so far. It seems to really also help people with lyme disease.

I had an elbow pain from weight lifting last year so I thought hey, I'll sting myself! So I did and let the entire poison sac pump out into my elbow until it stopped pumping. Like 5 minutes. lol My arm swelled up like never before and it sure didn't help my pain. lol I know I know. I've heard everything you guys are going to say already. :cheesy: I do believe apitherapy is very useful if used correctly. I guess some people sell just bees to people for this purpose. I find the whole thing extremely interesting.

The woman that I know was buying a jar of bees a week for 20 years. Her Beek got out of the business when she came to me. I gave her a jar of bees and then talked her into getting her own hive. Her husband used to bee allergic to them. He went through desensitizing using stings and now he is a beekeeper.

Hi Folks,

I?ve been keeping for a few years now.

I find that when I get stung I can jump higher, run faster and scream like a twelve year old girl.

The range of motion in my arms, neck and legs increases tremendously.

My wife takes great, great pleasure in my responses to bee venom therapy. It makes her happy and full of laughter.

A Twofer!

It seems to always bring my wife great pleasure when I get stung. She swears she can't help it when she laughs.

Seems like it's working for her pretty well then. Second hand apitherapy.

Last night my wife and I were talking about this. I hate being stung and have a hard time doing it on purpose.
She told me if I caught the bee, in a pair of hemostats, she would bee GLAD to sting me.
It has worked so well that I may end up taking her up on this.
I still do not have 1/10th the pain that I had before Monday night.

JIM you do it for a little while you wont even be bothered by it i sting my wrist 2 times a month and after a while if away from my bees i would catch some off flowers and sting myself people thought that was strange but trust me you will get used to it and if the area swells a little and turns red thats just the bodys defence kicking in and is very normal i dont even swell any more so get into it and be pain free its great

I've seen bee stings work on other people with my own eyes. Not just an internet read thing.

Trimman,
I do not have any problems with swelling and itching. I have received hundreds of stings over the last 6 years. I just don't like being stung.
