New bee keeper from MA

I bit the bullet last December and finally ordered my first box of bees. Sheet some last minute scrambling  (we made the langstroth hive DIY style) (we had no idea that making the actual frames was going to be so complicated) we installed them with only a few interesting stories. They are very happy now, despite their clueless caretaker.

Two lessons I learned For your amusement:
1: always tuck your shirt in. Bees DO like dark places, and having to almost flash your 16 yo son and Father in law will go down in the family history books.

2: just because the bees aren't moving, doesn't mean they are dead. Under NO circumstances should you put them in your car and drive to work, with the intent of disposing them later. (Thankfully only a few got out of the box and were more intent on getting out the back window than flying toward the driver)

I look forward to gleaning wisdom from other bee keepers,  and to learn more mistakes second hand than first hand. Because I'm sure I'm not done yet. ;)

Thanks. If I can sneak away from the boy scout campout I'll check it out.
