This May I started two hives from packages. A week ago they had two deeps drawn out so I put a honey super on each. The supers had mostly drawn frames when I put them on. In a week one has honey in a few frames and the other has none. I took the super off and looked in the brood box and all seems to be ok. They have a good brood pattern and some honey stored. I guess they will catch up when they are ready.

It could be a number of things. Some bees are better at honey than other bees. One group may have found a better source. One may have a stronger population. I had 30+ hives to pull from this year, all in my front & back yard. Some of the hives sit right beside another hive. One hive would have dark color honey and the other would have light color honey.
