Not sure if this is going to work but I finally got a video of my new box jack I made for harvesting honey.

Well I don't have a face book account and so couldn't see it.  I have watched a few vidios on you tube of them.  I just built a warre hive and most of my stuff is built out of oak and very heavy.  The one I liked for just lifting but not moving (no wheels) was just a four armed thing that you can carry.

Maby something more to put on my to do list.
Sounds cool.

Now that I have succeeded in getting the icrap to load the video to my computer I will see if I can get it to Photobucket or Youtube.  This thing weighs about 3 pounds.

If it works ...It is still loading so give it some time like maybe an hour.

Hey thats cool.  Was that an excape board you were putting under the super?

Cheers

Yes, I put it in during the afternoon when it warms up in the 50's and the next morning I can take the box off without one bee in it.  Then just take the escape board off and put the covers back on.  I tried it with only one box because I didn't know what to expect.  I am using a hive tool to actuate the strap hing which makes a toggle lock in the up direction.  I wasn't sure how much I could lift with the hive tool.  I have since used it to jack up two boxes at a time.  I am sure I could lift three boxes at a time but it gets into the brood chamber and they won't leave the supers in that case.

The angle iron is bed frame material and tied together with (2) 1/4 -20 threaded rods.  There is a shaped wooden piece that fits the hand holds so the frame cannot slip down when you jack the box up.

What is the purpose of this? Really interesting and innovative but I dont understand how this save any time or effort. Just pull the boxes off and put em back on its almost faster. Beekeepers never cease to amaze me with their inventions!

I would say it's to make it easier regarding weight. Yes it's faster to pull them off and back on, but that's a lot of lifting of very heavy boxes

What is the purpose of this?

Can you lift two or thee boxes, inner cover, outer cover with bricks on top at once when the hive is 7 or 8 boxes tall?  I have made a device that makes it easier for me.  It may even be faster.  It takes me less then three minutes to slip in the bee escape including lighting the smoker.  Yes, when the bees have cleared I do have to lift off the supers but they don't have bees in them.  I can take my time and don't have to use smoke.  This is not a device for commercial operation.  I never intended it to be.  If others don't see a value in what I have done it is not going to hurt my feelings.  I do think that if someone suffers from back problems they might like what I have done and I am more than happy to share.

I am glad you shared it.  I like to get ideals to steal if so if I get some free time I can make things that I wasn't smart enough to think of myself.  Poeple that keep sharing their ideals keeps me from never having something to do.
Thanks

Me too. I'll be  building something like it sooner than later. Every time (still) I manually move supers/hives etc., my back lets me know that I'm no spring chicken anymore.

Thanks for sharing Ace.
The bees usually fix my mistakes

I got my fourth box off today.  Going for my fifth tomorrow.  I am loving this thing.  I think the bees are too.

Design improvements:  I am going to get rid of the threaded rods and replace it with toggle clamps.  I made one of the rods too short and if I am not careful the nut spins off the end before I can get the frames on the box.
