Honey bees vs Japanese Hornets study

A friend of mine told me of a story he had heard concerning honey bees and Japanese Hornets. He said that when the hornet scouts would come to a hive the bees would let them in. Then they would ball them to kill it by over heating it. Thus by killing the scouts the hornet hive wouldn't be aware of the location of the bees.

This study points out that a j. hornet can actually survive higher temps than what the bee ball can produce, however, in this ball the carbon dioxide is raised. That makes the temp a hornet can survive lower.
