I put my honey super on. They were not really touching the sugar water anymore and the hive was filling up. How long till they fill the super?

That depends.  Did you put drawn comb super on or just foundation.  My experiance last year is that they didn't even reconize my super untill I moved a frame of brood from the middle of the bottom box up into the middle of the super.  The super sit there 2 weeks untouched untill the brood frame.  Maby it was a fluke and two weeks is when they needed the extra room but I don't believe that was the case and my thoughts are it might take a bit of baiting.

There was no drawn comb. First spring with bees.

Me too.  Did you get two deeps drawn last year?  If so, did you find you had to bait the second one to get them started on it?

If the flow is really strong, they may jump on it.  Maby sawdustmaker or iddee will comment.  I just know what happened to me last year on my first year build up.  I had to bait them up into the third medium.

Good luck

They filled up two deeps and that are what they are in now. I hope they move up as I am running shallows for my supers so I have no way to get brood up there.

What is the configuration of the top deep. Is it solid honey? Or brood mixed in?

Mixed. More honey than brood though.

Take two of your shallow frames and cut the ends off the top bar.  Pull two deep frames out of the top box and attach the shallow frames to the bottom of the deeps.  Place these frames in the shallow box and align them to the spaces in the top deep.  If it is a strong flow it will be a couple of days or a week if it isn't that strong before they draw out the shallow foundation.  You will have to put back the ends on the shallow frames to hang them in the shallow box.  Once you have new frames drawn out in the shallow box I would remove these two adulterated frames.  Cut the comb out and rubber band it in a new frame if you want to save the comb.  No excluder during this process.

Thanks. I will not be able to get to it today. It will have to be next week. I will check to see how they are doing up there and if need be will try to follow this advice
