How long till bees calm down

Needless to say I was working around my bees this morning and kinda made them mad. I bumped the entrance to their hive and showered some dirt down on the landing board. They came out in large numbers and started crawling around the hive. I beat a hasty retreat but still need to work around my hive. So how long will they stay mad

If the reason for their defensiveness is your actions, they usually calm down in a week or two.  Sometimes quicker depending on how much you upset them.  If the reason is the weather and the flow, they may be much better as soon as something new blooms.  If the reason is their genetics, they won't get better...

Well I figure they were mad because there were no bees out and then all of a sudden they came out in large numbers and started crawling around the hive. When I saw that I did not stick around if they were mad or not.

Well lets hope not to  much because that is my favorite walking spot. They usually are very very gentle and never even land on my during inspections. I might go suit up and check it out this after noon and try to finishmy work

I would think curiosity more than mad. Probably calm within 10 minutes.

Wallace(Iddee) is correct.  My experience is a little longer at about 1/2 hour.

If you wait till dusk, and toss a few shovel full of dirt at the entrance while hosing down the front wearing only your briefs..that will surely elicit a appropriate response lol

I Was preparing to move a couple of hives getting him set up with netting so I can net them up and move them out. Has I put the netting under the one colony I Disturbed a colony of carpenter ants that was under the blocks that the hives are on. The carpenter ants came swarming out and into the hive with the predictable response from the bees. They weren't doing a bunch of flying they were doing a hell of a lot of crawling in a thick carpet of bees up the front in the entrance around the side across the yard yeah they were mad exceedingly defensive 45 stings later I was transporting them to where they needed to be
