I moved my bee hive to a location that better suits them and me, just before sun up this morning.  Just checked the hive, and its buzzing with activity.  Then went to look at the old location, to see how many were left behind.  There must be 300-400 bees flying around the old site.  Is there anything I can do for them?  I have a spare Med. super with unused frames in it.  If I put it at the old site, will they make use of it?   Are they just scouts and foragers?  The two sites are about 150' apart.  Just want to save what I can.

Thanks

I'm a new beek , so with that i may be totally wrong. If you are feeding hives sugar water,   pull feeders and setup community feeder at old location and maybe they'll follow bees back ?
Like i said that is just a guess. I don't know if it would work.

Take a Nuc or a hive and a frame with some drawn comb and place it at the old location. An hour before sun down, close it up then take it to the original hive and move the frame into the box. You may have to do it again.

I agree with Jim, but I would move them a half hour AFTER sundown.

I would too Iddee but he is a newbee and opening a hive after dark can be rough.  Unless there is a heavy flow, most of the bees will be settled in for the night.

I cheat, Jim. I just made that nuc up for him last week. I know what it is.   :cheesy:
