When I moved my colony into a new hive box, I was reminded of a youtube video by David at Barnyard Bees. As I tranferred about 5 frames, I could hear the bees beginning a droning, roaring sound in the NEW box. I never saw the queen, although I looked at both sides of every frame. But after moving another two frames, the roar shifted and the new box started to become quiet, and the OLD box began loudly droning. I figured she had to be safe in the new hive, and when I tipped the old box to the front entrance of the new one, all those left over bees just marched right in. Amazing!
