Works well for me, no drowning, inside the hive under the cover, and free.  Your needs may vary.

i use about 3 or4 foam plates cut up in 1 in pieces floating ina large aliminum turkey roaster, in a shim. usually no drowning unless i pour too fast when . :happy:
