Paper wasps in spare box

I had some spare boxes stacked on the bench beside the hives. I went to get one of them and wow! A whopper of a paper wasp nest. Got popped in the arm, got to drink some benadryl, got to call 911. That's another story.

How do I get these wasps out? I'm not inclined to spray Raid all over the inside of a honey super. But these things are seriously dangerous for me.

Soapy water will kill them.

Suck them up with a shop vac.   Put the end of the wand right at the entrance and collect them as they come out.   Once you have reduced the population then go about sucking apart the nest.  I remove many of hornet and yellow jacket nest this way.   They are more concerned with the end of the want then the person.

Also, Put a couple inches of soapy water in the bottom of the shop vac.  Makes dealing with the aftermath (emptying) much much simpler and no danger.

Will a bee jacket stop a wasp or yellow jacket sting?

The vented jackets will. The single layer, old style white ones, will only deter them from trying to sting through it just because it is white.
