While the rain is greatly needed the winter-like weather has extended into spring here.

I have a package of bees coming next week and it will be barely warm enough to install them.

I worry because nighttime temps will be less than 50* most of next week.

Will they take the syrup when it is that cool?

Also, we are back from a little break -- went to Corpus Christi on the Gulf Coast of Texas.  The freeze wrecked them all the way down there!  But the Mesquite between Corpus and San Antonio were loaded with blooms!  Sweating it out here because we are hundreds of miles North.  Without Mesquite I am dead in the water.

Sold another hive.

Check out my FB page, Deep Creek Apiaries?
41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?

43 And he took it, and did eat before them.

The Mesquite are still alive and starting to leaf out.  What a relief.

It is still cold at night.

Maybe you will get that good flow after all. Wishing you the best year yet! Good for you on the hive sale.

Thanks, Ben.

Upon inspection today with 73* warmth it appears my second farm hive is minus a queen.  There are approx. a dozen capped cells but no larvae or eggs.  Ugh.

I wonder if I got two bum nucs last spring or if the weather was just that bad.

Came home and ordered a queen while three frames of bees hang on socking away feed.

Will boost them from the amazingly strong hive in my back yard, already building comb in the super, until the queen arrives, a Saskatraz from CA.

Father, just wing it and get onto it.
You got the resources, skip those dark and pessimistic visions and take action.
YOU are the one to change it. Just get to it and stop pondering.
