Are their those here that actually harvest and sell propolis?

Years N years N years ago.
It is labour intensive to collect and package properly. It is also a very small market.
Quickly gets to the point where the sales do not represent value of the effort (costs).  So I quit doing it. Have better things to spend the time on that bring much higher returns.  Kind of like scooping royale jelly vs raising quality queens.
The calls kept coming. But the price never improved much despite them being told so. Folks were eventually told to just stop calling until they substantially increased the $/g and the volume of the requests.
When the lid goes back on, the bees will spend the next 3 days undoing most of what the beekeeper just did to them.

Thanks HP for the information. My bees seem to make an abundant amount but I don?t want to mess with it if it?s not worth the extra work and trouble involved. Thinking out loud; Unless; a person could see a way to use the stuff, in some product form made themselves, marketing it themselves for a fair price? (Naw, still might not be worth the time and effort in any situation.) Again as always, thanks for you experienced wise response. I will again take your experience as good advise.

I sold some.  Once. Years ago.  I understand if you dissolve it in grain alcohol you can coat your equipment with the solution instead of painting.  It works.  Preserves and gives a natural look to your wooden ware, if that?s what you like.  But a quart of grain alcohol is expensive compared to paint.

Thanks for you input 2Sox. I have no doubt that what you say is accurate. But really I was thinking more on the lines of sales of propolis. I was going on the tip Sawdstmark, (Jim), gave on the topic gunky propolis started by Bob Wilson.

Ben,
I sold some many years ago at seven dollars an ounce. Then the guy moved. I still collect it when I?m cleaning up my equipment during winter. If you mix it with grain alcohol, you can use it for sore throat spray.

Jim. Throat spray of alcohol and propolis?
Sounds to me like the cure has become worse than the malady.

BurleyBee

I just received a couple Caucasian queens from Old Sol, so we shall see if the propolis problems are true.

I had a couple of spray bottles from a company that makes and sells Green Propolis in Brazil. It sells for $40 to $60 an ounce. It really helps kill a sore throat if you catch it early.

That makes sense, when I was small, before I had my tonsils removed, the doctor would prescribe some type of spray for my throat. The stuff tasted horrible but it did help tremendously with an acute sore throat. What the stuff was, I do not remember I was very small.
