Hi, I have decided to give Beekeeping a try since I have been interested in it for quite some time. I am trying to learn as much as possible before getting started this spring. I am glad I found such an informitive group.

If you want to start this year you should order your bees asap. A lot of suppliers will have their orders filled for the year pretty soon.
Other than that welcome to the forum and ask away if you need any help or have any questions!! :)

Welcome!
This is a great place to learn about bees and find answers to questions. The 'search' function is very useful for finding topics that have already been discussed (i.e., no waiting for someone to answer!)

I'd like to encourage you to get involved with a local bee club. Much of beekeeping is local, and nothing beats having a mentor. Ohio has several active clubs and it looks like there's one right there in Trumbull county:

Darcher, welcome to our forum.  You have found THE place for learning about bees.  We have beekeepers that have been involved with bees for eons and lots of new ones too.   This is a safe place to spend time, learn and learn more.  Ask questions, questions will be answered, it will be one of your best places for learning, you will find that out.  The bees will hold you under their spell once you get them, you find that out in short order, they will instill a passion to become a great beekeeper, we have all experienced this, and are still experiencing the power of the honeybee, in so many ways.  Have a wonderful and beautiful day, love this life we live. There are strange things done in the midnight sun by the men who moil for gold.  The Arctic trails have their secret tales that would make your blood run cold.  The Northern Lights have seen queer sights, but the queerest they ever did see, what the night on the marge of Lake Lebarge, I cremated Sam McGee.  Robert Service
