Perhaps putting signs up that read " Vicious, aggressive bee study, these bees will sting, enter at your own risk". would deter those would be thieves. I agree, the pics in the newsclip look like hives that were blown over.

I'm posting mine just that way once I complete the other 2 sides of the fence to enclose the beeyard.  One sign on each side, that plus the fact that the beeyard is well back from the road and property lines means that if someone gets stung it's their fault, they had to go looking.
