Looking in the hive

This is our first year with bees and I really enjoy watching them. I was wondering though about opening the hives. Do the bees get upset if it is opened too many times? Is once a day to much? twice a week? once a week?

You should let the Bes do there job.If you open or inspect you should have a plan or a purpose then according to what you observe go from there.I like to let the bees do there thing

Love your avatar.  Aracuana chickens.  Mine lay rose and green--no blue.  I occassionally give a dozen fresh eggs away to visitors or relatives--I always point out the green eggs and tell the person they are especially good with ham--call it a Dr. Zuess scramble.  LOL.

Once a week during key periods is fine. If you open them too much they may start to get mad.

When I  was a child, we lived across the street from my grandparents, who had a farm. One of the chickens laid blue eggs, and I use that story to elicit disbelief from any non-chicken person I know. Thank goodness for my parents and the internet to confirm my story and amaze the listener. That chicken was the only one who had a name, but I can't remember it, for the life of me. I could pick her out among the hundred or so chickens they had, though. The rest were just...ordinary. :P
