drones

as i was standing out there watching bees come and go, 1/2 a dozen or so drones buzzed by and all entered the same hive.  i have not seen many drones this year, and certainly not a bunch flying into one hive.

this has been my strongest hive.  i have not dug around in there since i verified that there was a queen in there after i had made a split from it.  should i go in looking for something?  i had planned on leaving them alone as they are the only hive with a prayer of producing any extra honey this year.

I've tended to see a couple drones at the same time coming in. Since they're only out for one thing, maybe they travel in groups?

Good drones must practice formation flying if they're are going to be successful doing their job.  I see 2-3 up to a dozen landing at a time on occassion.  I've even seen groups returning to neighboring hives at the same time.  Usually mid to late afternoon when the queen patrols are over.

after reading your post hopefully that is all that is happening to mine I am seeing a bunch of what looks like drones landing on mine also. I guess only time will tell
