Howdy all,
I did a search on how to make the sugar syrup for winter feeding my soon to have hives and I am confused to say the least. Would someone please tell me what amount of sugar to water I should use?     Specific weight of sugar to specific ounce, pint, quart, or gallon of water. Example; 1:1 is ?. 2:1 is ?. Which is used for the first number, sugar or water. Thanks for any clairification. I'm stumped.

Mici

a pint is a pound the world around. one pint of water is roughly (or exactly??) one pound
to make 1:1
1 pound of sugar on 1 pint of water
to make 2:1
2 pounds of sugar on 1 pint of water

how much to feed i know not, since i'm not familiar with your winter conditions. around here, we feed around 13-15kg of sugar per hive.
