This is how I introduced a queen to my observation hive. I placed a top cover to a finch bird bath over the half open sliding door of the hive and placed the queen in a queen catcher inside the cover late in the afternoon yesterday. I released the queen this morning and she is now in the hive. The bees appear much quieter now since they have a queen.

A swarm in May is worth a bale of hay.
A swarm in June is worth a silver spoon.
A swarm in July isn't worth a fly.
