Frames

I have been using a locally made wood frame and am unsatisfied w/ their strenght and integrity. They constantly splinter when seperating frames and of course the ends pull out too. This local manufacrurer also sells plastic frames.
my question, do any of you use "name brand" frames, from whom and do you ,lik'em?

When you say splinter out do you mean the end bars or top bars ?
I have been using what ever brushy mountain sells and they been fine even trying to separate them after being gorrila glued together by the bees. I didnt think they were going to come apart at all  :shock:.... 1st year mistakes.. lets see .. dont leave a med super on all summer in a drought with no flow. All they do is glue, glue, glue :roll:

i've been getting mine from Brushy Mountain and they hold up just fine.

I've been using the ones from Betterbee and have been quite happy with them.  I use to use Walter Kelley until shipping became too costly.

when I say splionter, I mean the "shoulder" of the frame. The area MB shaves down to fit eleven in a ten frame.

So the parts of the frames where they bump together. No haven't had any splintering. I think I got some from betterbee and bushy mountain...... I think.

I usually buy my frames large quantities when they are on sale by one of the larger suppliers.  I last bought 200 frames from Mann Lake and still have about half to build yet.  Buying from unknown sources can be iffy at best.  Never buy from someone who doesn't have a good reputation with other local beekeepers.  A fly-by-nighter will probably build equipment from utility grade lumber, utility being 1 grade above junk.

I get mine at Dadant.  They work just fine and reasonably priced.

I also buy mine from dadant with the black pierco and they are ready to put in the hive.

I get mine at Dadant.  They work just fine and reasonably priced. 

I also get mine from Dadant in Paris, Texas, they're the closest to me and I like dealing with Terri over there, she's very helpful.

   The only problem I had was my fault in an extractor.  Otherwise I have Betterbee, Dadant. Kelley, LAPP's and Mann Lake.  They are all no problems.
