On January 19th at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, the Metro Atlanta Beekeepers Association is presenting a short course.
You can read about it here.

Speakers and agenda include:

Bee Biology:  Jamie Ellis, PhD
Life in the Colony:  PN Williams (well-respected local beekeeper from whom many of us buy nucs)
Beekeeping Equipment:  Curtis Gentry, PhD (Official entomologist at Atlanta Botanical Garden)
Plant Biology and Pollination:  Amanda Ellis, PhD (Jamie's wife)
Beginning Beekeeper Panel:  Linda Tillman, PhD and others that I've talked into helping me! (my PhD has nothing to do with beekeeping!)
Colony Collapse Disorder:  Jamie Ellis, PhD
Honey Extracting:  Gerard McCann
Integrated Pest Management:  Amanda Ellis, PhD
Products of the Hive:  Jerry Wallace
African Bees:  Jamie Ellis, PhD
Questions:  Panel of all presenters

Please sign up if you're interested and nearby.  It's an all-day event as you can see.  Lunch is provided as well as snacks and we give each participant a "goody bag" full of beekeeping catalogs, candles, honey, lip balm (made by yours truly) and other wonderful things.  Everyone who comes is assured of winning one raffle item.

Currently there are 50 people who have signed up, but we can handle as many as 25 more.
