They didn't have a program for radicals.

I think Rabid would be more appropriate that radical.  You are very passionate about it, not off the reservation.  I like to think I know a bit about beekeeping but if you ask me to name all the parts of a bee be prepared for Legs, wings, head, thorax, and abdomen.  Anything beyond that is, to me, immaterial to the art of beekeeping.  I have a working knowledge rather than a scientific knowledge and in the real world the working knowledge is more important.
