Someone told me this a long time ago and that bee venom therapy will reduce the symptoms of arthritis.  Is there any truth to it?

Hopefully beekeeping will cure it, cuz I've already got it!

Google Apitherapy.  Apitherapy includes the use of bee stings, honey, propolis, wax, and royal jelly for medicinal purposes.  And yes, bee stings help relieve the pain associated with arthritis and a host of other pains and even skin problems.  Are are several threads about Apitherapy here on the forum so you can also use the search function and look thos up.

I wouldn't say never.  But stings seem to help.

My mentor says that when he began keeping bees about 10 years ago, he could barely hold on to his toothbrush because of arthritis. The only time his arthritis bothers him now is sometimes during the winter when he's not getting stung regularly.

Alan, arthritis literally means inflamation of the joints, so to answer your question, yes. Bee venom, I remember reading has something like 22 different types of anti-inflammatory components. Most people who use the stings for therapy apply the sting directly to the affected area. It works for me.

Yep, I think that many that keep bees attest to the power of the sting.  I know my knees are just starting to bug me again.  I have to get them earth ready soon.  Soon I will be kneeling in the dirt half my life and I need to get that pain relief initiated, but.....can't bug the girls yet.  It is gonna have to wait for at least a month or so.  I keep looking at Kobi, my Daughter's pittbull, and I know she needs my stinging attention too, but she is just going to have to wait as well, and then........  Well, she actually does a pretty good job of keeping herself in good tune, she loves to eat any bee that happens to venture too close to her while she is laying out in the grass.  She knows what is good for her.  Oh man....I am getting pretty excited about thinking how close spring is getting, and how soon we will be back into those beautiful warm and green days of the dog days of summer.  It brings a peace to my soul.  Have a wonderful, beautiful day.  Cindi

My knees don't bother me too much in the garden, it's my spine between my shoulders that's very painful after bending over in my beloved garden - I won't give it up!  I'll have to get the girls to land on my back and sting me a few times and see if that helps  ;)

being stung definately reduces ny arthritic symptoms for a day or so. Never did it deliberately, but I notice a diff when they do sting.
