Bees in Iran not doing so well

"Managing director of the Union of Beekeepers said that Varroa mites have infested 80% of the hives in Iran blaming the situation on the removal of subsidies on medicines to combat the pest thus making the drug unaffordable."

Interesting that pesticides are referred to as "medicine", and that the gov't gets blamed for Varroa. I'd personally be hesitant to speak ill about someone with the title of "Agricultural Jihad Minister".

Or at least oxalic acid... it only costs pennies a hive to treat with that.

I do find the references to "medicine" and "drug" odd for a pesticide.  I wonder which one they are using?
