New Bee Keeper here need help

Well I always loved my great uncles bees and was obsessed with his hobbie. Now that he recently passed away at 82 and hadn't taken honey from them since 2 or 3 years ago because of his age. But took care of them regulary. Theres three active european bee hives and one none active I think mites killed them?? All of the bee gear was recently thrown away so I have nothing. But can purchase what I need but have no clue what i need. The bees are very well tempered. How do I move them from his house to mine can I move them in a closed suv? The Paint is almost all off can I paint them white again. When I move them can I keep them near a chicken/turkey coop about 25yds away against a concrete wall? I live Northwestern Connecticut. some things you need are a hive tool, veil, and smoker. these are the basics.

When you get ready to move them i would wait untill dark and take some aluminum window screen with a stapler. Close of the entrance by stapling the screen of the entrance. Take a strap and wrap it around the hive to keep it secure. onece loaded in the suv i would lay a sheet over them just in case some get out.

you can repaint them again just keep it on the outside of the hive. do not paint the inside.

I don't think you should have a problem placing them near the coop but would point the entrance away from it.

Paint them only when the hives are sealed. Dallas gave you some good info.

Like already said ,, make sure you strap them together good. Screen over entrance and I would screen over the hole in the inner cover also so they cant get out the top.. Its an odd feeling driving down the road with about 100,000 hacked off bees bouncing around in the back seat :-D

Probably.  Or they starved over winter once or they went queenless...

I move them all the time in a minivan, but it is messy and bees will get loose.  If you can't drive with bees buzzing around you, then it's a bad plan.

Of course.

I would not put them near animals who can't run away if the bees get angry.
