Does anyone know how to use this pollen trap? :?

The bees go through the holes in the cloth.  They should be about 1/5" to do the job.  The pollen should fall off of the bees legs and through #7 hardware cloth into a drawer with a window screen bottom.

the holes look to small for the bees to go through and i still dont see where the pollen goes.

Does anyone else see how this works.

As I can't see the top cloth well enough to judge the size of the holes I will venture a guess that the bees crawl through the top cloth and the pollen is pulled from the bees. The pollen then falls through the inner cloth and I think there should be a catch tray there. The bees go the other way into the hive.

The holes for a pollen trap look too small for bees to get through because that's how small they have to be to dislodge the pollen.  The pollen has to fall through a #7 screen into a drawer somewhere below where the pollen falls off going through the screen.

So do you think that the pieces of wood face into the sky along the hive? If so it looks like the bees would go in and out the top and never make it back into the hive. Where do you think the pieces of wood on the side point.

Michael Bush

I assume the pieces of wood are to attach it to the hive and run back along the sides.
