Swarm time again.

Swarm about 14' up been there in a ligustrum since Saturday. Got there this evening and the bees were kinda mad, guess they were down to what little reserves they had before they swarmed out. Had to secure my ladder to the fence cause the ground was uneven, redneck removal service, balancing act, but I got the bees. I'm sure there's much more to come, off to a banner yr, so was last season. Hey my friend Bailey got two swarms today and his wife caught one yesterday evening. When he got home he had a wife and a new hive waiting for him, I just had my wife waiting for me, which is great because she is a sweetheart, but dang, Bailey's wife catches bees!!!

I know you've heard it before, and I've seen it said to you before, But I just gotta say it AGAIN!..Mannn, you catch alot of bees! And big globs of 'em too!
I think I've figured out the CCD dilemma!
I think, after seeing your catches and hearing your stories about you, your friends, and WIFE catching bees, I've come to the conclusion that CCD is where bees leave their homes and fly to your part of Louisiana! I have only seen 4 swarms in trees and one hive under an eave, and one hive of metallic green bees in a bag of peat! and this is how many i,ve seen in my lifetime!(Also, I only saw these bee swarms AFTER i started doing bees) I did catch all these but some flew away and 2 i combined before winter.
Ok,...I gotta quit now....Tanks outside barking like mad..I dont wanna hear a gunshot next...Tank cant hit the broadside of a barn!

You guys crack me up, yes we definitely got bees!!! been difficult staying one step ahead of them. Been building boxes and frames, speaking of which I purchased a pneumatic brad gun from Sears last night and boy it gets the job done!!! No more glue for me!

well i gotta jump in and say this.

we all should have a mentor like jp!
i got very lucky last august when i found him on the internet and asked him how i should hive the tiny swarm i had take up residence in a purple martin gourd.

he has not only helped me with my bees but has turned out to be a great friend and a pretty fair hand in a boat too! :-D

his guidance has accelerated my learning curve to say the least!

my paltry swarm has evolved into 7 hives in my back yard and 2 hives in my father in laws back yard. ( not counting the swarm i have in a trap in his back yard )

( if you ever get the time to come down here i got a bottle of mead a few packs of jumbo shrimp and lemon fish and red snapper with your name on them!)

I would still glue everything. It'll last much longer. Brads are only really good for holding things together until the glue dries.

Bailey, I know I responded to your post last nite but I don't see it up, maybe I hit the wrong button, I don't know, its just weird. Anyway, when that swarm showed up last season in your purple martin gourd you caught the fever then! Glad I could be of some help. I'm glad you are having so much fun with the swarms and cut-outs, its great we can talk about the ones we did, trading stories back and forth, that's what its all about. Talk at you soon. Can't wait to try that mead!
