When do I stop feeding a second year colony?  Because they are bringing pollen in now.

What about a new package?

Thanks

Jeff

They will stop taking feed when flow strarts , and new packages when most frames are drawn out and brood in them .

Some people don't even feed a second year colony, only new packages to get them to draw out comb.  I was lucky this year and didn't need to feed very much.  Had a suprise early nectar flow!!!

I will feed if they are light in the fall (means I screwed up on harvest) and maybe in February (this year) to stimulate them.  But that's it.  I feed new swarms, packages, splits and others of the like.
Everyone said it couldn't be done. But he with a chuckle replied, "I won't be one to say it is so, until I give it a try."  So he buckled right in with a trace of a grin.  If he had a worry he hid it and he started to sing as he tackled that thing that couldn't be done, and he did it.  (unknown)

I've seen many a package fed until they backfill the brood nest with syrup and they swarm even though they are just a weak little package.  Some of them never stop taking syrup.
