A bunch of these brightly colored birds have recently visited my apiary.  It's getting crowded with birds actually.  :-P  These one's are cute though - sorry for the poor quality pictures.  I've no telephoto lens, these birds are shy and this is as close as I could get:

Also, here's a dessert pic we made today: honey & coconut-cream glazed, raw carrot (w/date, walnut, pineapple & coconut) "bee-hive" cake.

Cheers,
Dane

Dane, beautiful shots of the bird.  And now you bad!!!  How could you even think of putting such an ugly picture of such a bad dessert!!!  Kidding, I am sitting here drooling, looking at that dessert, oh brother, creativity shines through!!!  Yeah!!!  Beautiful and wonderful day, awesome life.  Cindi

Thanks all!   There is plenty left.  We can't eat that cake that fast (it's pretty rich!) ~ I'll bring some with to Brian's to share.  :)

Maybe post the recipe for the rest of us who can't make it to Brian's? Although I'd like to see the west coast, with gas prices I don't see that happening any time soon. :(

Love the bird. We dont have them here in the east. what kind is it?

lovelyembalmer ~> I'll get the precise recipe from Mrs. Bramage & post it up here soon.  We're going to add a recipe section to our website as well.

KONASDAD ~> I'm unsure on the bird ID... still trying to figure that out myself (this is the first time I've seen them).
