1, can bees sting through those ruber surgical gloves? what about the heaver kitchen cleaning gloves?

2, what are the "actual" hights of the deeps & med boxes suposta be?? because the new wood is getting smaller and looks like its crowding the bees.

3,will they work the "outside" two frames in the brood boxes? mine seem to be working all but the outside2 then they are moving up into the next box,

I use nitrile gloves and while i'm sure the bees could sting through them they haven't yet.

Mine are ignoring the outside frames also. :)

When the next to the outside frames have been worked over you change them with the outside ones.

Surgical gloves yes, the hearvier nitiral no.

The box sizes are 9 7/8 for deep and 6 7/8 for mediums.  The frame depths are 9 1/4 and 6 1/4 respectively.

The outside frames are always used for storage.  That means, in a 10 frame hive, frames 1 & 10 are storage frames in a fully drawn super.  On supers where comb drawing is being done the outside frames are still the storage frames so if you have 6 frames drawn in the center of the box Frames 3 & 7 are storage and 4-6 are brood combs.  To get them to drawn more of the frames just move the storage frames out to 2 & 8  and put undrawn frames in 3 & 7.  Repeat the process until the box is completely drawn.  When you move the storage frames out to the 1 & 10 position put a super on too.

Often you have to swap them with the frame next to them to get them worked.
