I was doing a cutout and afterwords decided to eat some honeycomb. So I popped a big piece in my mouth and started enjoying. Then I felt something poke into the roof of my mouth. I tried to get it off with my tongue but it was stuck so I scraped it off with my fingernail. It was a stinger. There was no bee in the comb I ate so the only thing I can figure is that a bee had been squashed during the removal of the come and had stung the comb. After taking this stinger out I continued chewing and got another one in my tongue. I then decided to abandon this piece of comb and spit it out. Neither sting did anything just a little bump on the roof of my mouth. I guess all the venom had been pumped out before I got "stung". I still ate more comb but I made sure I looked it over really good first.

Sorry about that.  What a drag.  Any after efffects?

Once when I was younger I had a few bees get under my veil.  We were really working a bunch of hives so I just let them be and kept working.  I a few minutes one of them walked up into my nose.  (No, my nose is not all that large, but somehow she made it in there.)  Then, bang!  Wow, did that hurt.  That side of my sinuses was blocked from swelling for about a week. My eye on that side watered for almost three days.  Not fun.

I was doing a cutout late one evening and the bees from this colony were very small and some found a few ways to get into my veil, one got inside my left nostril and someway I got it out, then it flew right back in, and I got it out again. I couldn't believe it didn't sting me!

Another time I was carrying a sealed hive I had transferred from a cutout and one stung me on my arm, and at the moment it seemed like a good idea to use my tongue to get the stinger out, en route of course with the hive body still in my hands, well, you know I got stung on the tongue, was like getting a novacaine shot.

No after effects. Just a little bump for a few hours. I really don't think I took much venom.

That is too funny about bees in the nose.
