taking queens through TSA

Has anyone taken caged queens on a commercial fly.  I asked TSA stating that I wouldn't want to have to send them through X-ray.  They wrote back saying it was up to the security people at the gate.  3 or 4 years ago I brought hermit crabs (for my kids) back from the keys.  TSA just laughed (I didn't think these guys had any sense of humor) and carried them around x-ray.  Also could X-ray do any damage to the queen

TSA may or maynot care, but I bet your airline will.  They are the ones with no sense of humor.  They wouldn't let my daughter take her pet mouse (in a little cage) on board when she was 8.  Of course, the next trip we put it in a carry on shoulder bag and didn't ask.

yet i get stuck beside the furry yappy thing, identified by someone as a "dog".

actually, there is a legit reason for the mouse ban.  the only reason i can think of for a bee ban would be fear of someone being allergic.

wonder if you can call the airport security office and ask them before you go.  if it's up to the locals, that's probably the place to start?

I emailed TSA direct and they said it wouldn't be a problem.  The x-ray is really all I'm worried about.  They said it would be up to the people on duty if they would let me bypass x-ray.  As I stated they didn't send my kids hermit crabs through the machine.  My family lives 15 minutes from a russian queen breeder and I want to bring a few home with me on my next trip.

I cant' say what they would do, but you could buy some JZBZ cages and keep them in your pocket.  No metal to set anything off.
