I'm not complaining .......but,

No one likes a sour old geezer, so I'll voice my complaint in the most positive way possible. This morning I woke up to find Santa and his 12 reindeer in my yard. Good Grief, it's snowing in eastern Washington. This is suppose to be the month of the honey flow. Of course, this means my air conditioning bill will be a bit lower this summer. The yard won't need to be watered. My bees are all hunkered down in the hive, asking themselves why they moved here from California. I expect a visit from their union representative complaining about their working conditions.

It's been cold and rainy here for about a week, so my bees have been staying in the hive. They had been working hard, so a little rest will do them some good. They can clean up the hive, build a little comb, tell each other stories about the good old days.

May be the cool and wet weather will just delay the honey flow and the wet weather will only help the plants to produce more nectar.

Now I feel much better. This sure beats swearing. :)

I am right there with you, we have just had the loooooong winter this year. If just doesn't seem fair. I am in the first real year of beehaving, and they have not even had a chance to build up yet. I keep waiting and waiting and waiting. We get a week of decent weather and then, a week of 40's and rain or snow. It has just been to much this year.
Of Course then this little voice in the back of my head says "Remember what is was like in Feb!!!!!"

Ok, ok, ok ..........You're making me look like some kind of Yankee cry baby. I can do cold a lot better than hot. I spent three life times in Galveston Texas, and thought that perspiring was the Texas state "past time". You'll hear no more belly aching from eastern Washington. Eventually, spring will come to us .......some time around Thanksgiving. :)

Yeah, it's Junuary here, you know January, February, March, April, May, Junuary, July, etc... Summer is usually 4 days in August. As you might know from some of my other posts we here in the PNW are feeding our bees while it snows in the mountains. My brother lives above Davenport, and I was talking to him on the phone about pigeons and I told him I'd lost 3 hives due to starvatiion last week and it was currently having a downpour (as in flood from above) and he was having the exact same weather 200 miles away. Washington is not having a summer this year. 2008 will go down as the year of eternal winter.
