There is a Basswood tree on the side walk near my house. My bees have been working it nonestop for days! Thousands of them all over it.

This is my first attempt to upload a picture.

Enjoy.

I have a couple trees on my property that I believe are basswood - they have very large leaves that resemble a shape of a spade - however - nothing has bloomed on it yet, so not sure.  I live in S. Michigan - maybe they haven't flowered yet?

I have a lot of basswood on my property that are getting ready to bloom.  The bees go crazy over it.

They are probably catawlpa, another bee favorite. My catawlpa just finished blooming a week or so ago. Basswood has cerrated edges on leaves, catawlpa almost looks garden of edenish. They also get a long seed pod looks like a long string bean

They hardly touched my neighbors' catawlpa tree.  Wasps and bumblers all over, but very very few honeybees.  Just waiting now for the worms for fishing.
Everyone said it couldn't be done. But he with a chuckle replied, "I won't be one to say it is so, until I give it a try."  So he buckled right in with a trace of a grin.  If he had a worry he hid it and he started to sing as he tackled that thing that couldn't be done, and he did it.  (unknown)

Hi all, sorry I did not know how to load the picture. Today after work, I walked the 5 blocks radius around our neighborhood taking notes of the flowers in bloom then cross referencing them to the book so I can better understand the flora in my area. My bees are still all over the tree. For some strange reason my bees are not too fond of my cucumber beds that have tons of flowers on them and they have quit mining the Squash beds for yellow pollen. My tomatoe beds have nothing but bumble bees all over them but no bees.  I think keeping bees now is making me aware of all the flowers and their names and it is fun learning experience. On another note my neighbor called me today and asked if I can remove the bee nest on his deck... It was "WASPS" so I suited up and removed it after I explained to him the difference. The nest was small about a paper cup... I felt so bad for the wasp larvae...But I killed it to his delight.. It was no bother....! I mean if he left them alone they would have not bothered him and he had no kids.. Man but people are people...!

Regards to all
