Another Dell

I was asked to fix a Dell 8200 Dimension, 1.8 ghz, 2 128 mb memory with two other sticks I have no clue what they are, and operating with Windows XP. They want me to increase the memory but I am not able to find the ram, looking on newegg. The specs say it can hold 2gig in 4 slots. Do I have to use all four, 4 512 sticks, or can I use 2 1 gig sticks?

  I looked up the memory at a lot of sites and came up with a price of 160 for 1 512 stick or 260 for 2 512 sticks. I still dont get 2 gigs. That memory is more expensive than my DDR2 extreme 2 gigs.

Run into the cost factor quite often on older equipmet.  It may be perfectly sound equipment but to update costs more than its actually worth.  Try E-Bay used to get some good deals on used ram.
