Although I didn't want to, I felt I had to inspect today and am I glad I did.  They have really built up over 3+ weeks.  I had to add a brood box...I was happy to have some drawn comb. Now I see the value of the stuff.  At this point, I will just wait to see what happens.  There was So much honey too, I will have to pull some off soonly...

Even though I opened up the brood nest on last inspection, I wouldn't bee surprised if they swarm, there are just so many.  Yesterday I put out 2 swarm traps, one near one far.

The eucalyptus are blooming and the hillside sounds like a big buzzing machine...

Also, the bees were sorta crankier this time around...are they generally crankier when there is a flow on?

Thank you, muchly,

Sharon

Dang Girl, sounds like your spring has started already, since I don't know California, are you in the southern part?

Aptos is northern Cal. most call it centrel Cal.

I live in Sacramento and I have seen eucalyptus in bloom, but also rosemary, wild radish, mustard I believe,Dandelion's, and a bunch of other stuff. But they are just starting.
We need rain very badly, or there will be very little nectar.
In my hives there are capped drone cells. Didn't notice flying ones though. If my math is right, I believe the drones will be emerging next week and then another two weeks to mature, you should be able to start splits shortly after that.

Must be nice.  That dang ground hog says we have more winter ahead.  Someone needs to pop him off.

We are into the 70's here the past few days, nothing like the weather you must be getting. The girls are very active and I guess if the weather stays this warm, I better be prepared to open up the brood nest myself.

Somehow it all seems to quick and I am still waiting for the cold, moist weather to arrive.  Yiks!! I hate this drought.

I guess I better do a complete inspection by next week or else!!

Yes, it is odd.  The temps here were in the 80's...

I took a chance adding, but the boxes were jammed packed with bees.  Guess I will have to wait and see if I did the right thing.

I have no idea what the goofy weather will do.  Rain is coming, but it would be odd for us to freeze an more...

I may thing split this year for sure...hhhmmm heehee
