bees in Thailand

That's pretty cool!  I had to search for a second to find the hive, but then I saw it above the top left corner of the window!

year before last, he found a guy on a bicycle selling honey and  pieces of comb.  the comb was on sticks and the bees were still flying around it.  still have that pic somewhere...

In Thailand the brood comb is often desired more than the honey combs.  You can sometimes buy stir fried bee brood from street venders too.  Along with various fried insects and small animals from newts to monkeys.   They have a fish that hibernates in the mud of the kalongs (canals) when they dry up and when it rains the old men in the village grab their nets and run down to the local kalong and start fishing.  The fish is about 4 inches long with a boney proboscis that's about 2 inches long.  When the fish are smoked they look a lot like Darts from your local tavern.  You hold it by the boney proboscis and eat it like a popcicle.
