Had some fun yesterday installing three packages with two volunteers who are interesting in learning how to keep bees.  This was the first day for both of them and they did really well, installing a package each with no drama at all despite all the bees buzzing around them from the first hive. Dropped by the hives today and saw a lot of activity - orientation flights.  Do hope these hives do well, the plan is to provide training for the volunteers throughout the season with the hope it will help them decide if beekeeping is something they really want to invest in.

Way2go, slaphead :)

I'm down here in the Portland area. Beautiful weather. Just got done installing three nucs myself out in the backyard this afternoon. Real delightful day!

Very nice Lotsobees.

Are those raised beds I see next to your hives?

I mean, I know its serious business, and you did a good job....but.....It looks kinda like you got in a hurry after you dumped the bees in the hives!...At first glance, i thought the pic was of a bear attack!
Good job tho....you got the bees in and thats all that matters!
I cant wait till we see pics of when you do splits eventually!>( you know I'm yankin' your chain, right?)
Oh yeh,....I also want to welcome you to the forums!( Or should we call this a "12 step support group?")

@slaphead: They are... my whole backyard is pretty much a garden. :)

@johnnybigfish: lol -- nope wasn't in a hurry. The nucs are just out front to let the stragglers in after knocking most of them into the hives. It's all nice and tidy now. :)
