Hey all, hope you all survived the winter alright :) well its spring and bee time! I have been noticing a small amount of activity around my hive the last few days. I am in Maine (zone 5) and right now only a few crocuses in bloom. I am not seeing much for activity at all, today I went and pulled the winter wire guard off the front of my hive and noticed there are lots of dead bees on the bottom screen of the hive, I didn't dare open the hive or anything not knowining if an early spring beecheck would stress them out and harm them, if indeed they are doing ok. Should I check them? should I supplement them with anything? they had a whole super full of honey and 2 deep boxes full of brood and honey.

Should I just wait it out until things start blooming or should I check in on them?

Thanks!

If you can catch a day the temp is 50 or above, go for it.
Just try to keep it short and don't take frames out and expose to the chill for long.
Chilled brood will die.
May just need to "peep' in. :)doak
